Material Details

These are the high-level details for the material.


Materials are the basic entity used in Material Lists, Estimate Items, Work Order Labor Items, or Material Order Items. Only those with the authority (Can create and edit materials permission in the user permissions) are able to create and edit materials.


Material/Item Name (required)

Name of the material.


Style/Auxiliary Name (optional)

This is the style, or auxiliary name, that gets appended the Material/Item Name.


Classification (required)

This marks the item as a Labor item or Material item.


Make/Manufacturer (optional)

This is the manufacturer that makes the Material.


Website Link (optional)

This is the manufacturer's website url address. Users will then be able to open the manufacturer's product page to see more info about the item.


Estimate Type (required)

This is the estimate type for the material. Retail means it is a physical material that gets installed. Retail (Per Unit) is a packaged material that includes all materials and labor per unit (i.e. 1 square of shingles 4/12 pitch - single layer, would include all labor and material to install 1 square for a 4/12 pitch single layer roof. The cost for the material is typically the selling price for one unit). Insurance would be an item specifically for estimating an insurance restoration project.


Category (optional)

This is the trade category in which the item belongs to (i.e. flashing, fasteners, ventilation, etc.). You can click Add New Category within the list create a new category.


Unit (required)

This is the unit of the material (i.e. EA, LF, SQs, TONS, LS, SF, SY).


SKU# / Code (optional)

This is a unique code or identifier for the item. It could be a supplier code, your own inventory code, or any other code description.


Material Status

This is a unique code or identifier for the item. It could be a supplier code, your own inventory code, or any other code description.


  • Active - The material is active and available for use.
  • Discontinued - Manufacturer - The material has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.
  • Discontinued - Company - Your company chooses to no longer use this material regardless of its availability.
  • Incomplete Information - The material has incomplete information and is not fit for use.
  • Archived - The material is no longer fit for use for some reason but cannot be deleted because it is in use in an estimate or material order.
