Material Per Unit Primary
An optional setting that assists with job sizing and per unit metrics.
Is Unit Primary - This is important and is used to gauge profitability within an estimate or material order. Let's say you define a roofing project by the number of squares of shingles. The Per Unit Primary would define the squares of what. In this case it would be shingles. Be mindful of other materials that may qualify as a Per Unit Primary. In the example mentioned, shingles would qualify but so would hip & ridge shingles since they are usually counted within the total quantity of a project. Within an estimate or order, all of the quantities with the Per Unit Primary designation are totaled and used to define the per unit project size. All other materials would be considered Non primary/Accessory.
Unit Equivalent/Coverage - The Unit Equivalent/Coverage is also important within the estimates and orders. This helps with estimating accessories as well as converting these items into the correct per unit quantities. It is simply the amount of this material per unit of the project. Let's say it takes 3 bundles of ridge cap to equal one square of shingles. Then you would type in 3. However, let's say it takes 1 case of coil nails to cover 15-square of shingles. Then you would enter 0.06.
