Permit Overview

A construction permit is official approval from a local government for construction or remodeling, ensuring the project meets safety standards, zoning regulations, and building codes through a process of plan review and on-site inspections. It is a legal requirement for most major construction work and protects the public's health and safety. 

Details

These are the high-level details for the Permit.

Job/Contract (required)

This is the Job and Contract the Permit belongs to.


Permit PO # (required)

This is your number for the Permit.


Trade (required)

This is the trade the Permit will work under.


Permit Status (required)

These is the current status of the Permit. These statuses are hard-coded and cannot be changed or added to.

  • Pending - This is a general draft status of the permit.
  • Applied For - This status means the permit was applied for at the governing body but not issued.
  • Pulled (Issued) - This status means the permit was applied granted by the governing body.
  • Posted - This status means the permit is posted on site.
  • Inspected - This status means the permit is in an inspection stage by the governing body.
  • Closed - This status means is closed by both you and the governing body.

Permit Supervisor (optional)

This is the User that is responsible for managing and closing out the permit.


Comments (optional)

Optional comments that support the permit.



Dates

These are the noteworthy dates for the Permit. These dates are hard-coded and cannot be changed or added to.

  • Creation Date - This is the date the permit was created in Contractors Cloud.
  • Follow Up Date - The date required for the Permit Supervisor to check on the Permit.
  • Applied For Date - This is the date the permit was applied for at the governing body.
  • Pulled (Issued) Date - This is the date the permit was granted by the governing body.
  • Posted Date - This is the date the permit was posted on site.
  • Inspected Date - This is the date the permit was inspected.
  • Closed Date - This is the date the permit was closed by the governing body.

If any date is empty, it will automatically be filled in upon Permit status change.



Files

These are the uploaded Project Files related to the Permit.



Costs

These are dollar amounts that highlight the value and costs of the Permit.

Permit Evaluation - This is the estimated cost of the improvement. In some cases, this value is required by the governing body in order to obtain the permit.


Estimated Permit Cost - This is the estimated cost of the permit. This assists with accurate estimated job costing. The actual cost will be represented in a bill to the Vendor.


Bills/Expenses

These are the Bills related to the Permit. These bills represent the actual cost of the Permit.



Project Notes

These are the Project Notes related to the Permit. All changes to the Permit are documented within the Project Notes.


Utilities

This is where you delete a Permit. When deleting a Permit that has a bill, the Permit will delete but the related Bill will not. Therefore, you may have to manually delete the related Bill if applicable.
