Contract Files
The Contract Files tab keeps documents with the contract they belong to — the signed contract, change orders, the scope of work, or anything else specific to this piece of sold work rather than to the project as a whole.
A contract file is also a project file
Uploading here does not create a separate library. The file is filed in the project's Contract folder and linked to this contract, and it still appears on the project's Files tab alongside everything else.
The Contract Files tab is a filtered view of the project's files, not a second store. Attaching a document to a contract organizes it; it does not hide it from the project.
Available on every contract type
Job Costs, Commissions, Profit & Loss and Completion Certificates are all hidden on a Subject To contract, because that type cannot carry financials. Contract Files is not hidden — it is available on all four contract types, so a Subject To contract can still hold the paperwork that supports the sale.
Uploading a file
Click the cloud icon in the Files section header to open the uploader.
The number shown beside Files is a running count of the documents attached to this contract.
Opening a file
Click the file name and it opens in a new browser tab.
The list shows three files at a time by default. Use the length menu above the list to show more.
Renaming, deleting and re-filing
These controls live on the project's Files tab, which carries the full set of file options. Open a file there and you can:
• Change the File Name.
• Move it to a different Folder.
• Change what it is Related To — including moving it from one contract to another.
• Give it a Company Description.
• Set it to Financially Sensitive (Hide) or Open Viewing/Edit.
• Share on Customer Portal, or not.
• Delete it, which asks you to confirm first.
Attaching a file that is already on the project
If a document was uploaded to the project before the contract existed, there is no need to upload it a second time.
On the project's Files tab, open the file, set Folder to Contract, then choose the contract under Related To. It will appear on that contract's Contract Files tab. The Related To list is driven by the folder you pick, so set the folder first.
Requirements
This tab requires the photo and file upload feature to be enabled for your account. If it is not, the tab shows a message in place of the file list — contact your Account Manager.
